QuickBooks Online

You’ve disconnected HOA Dues from QuickBooks.

QuickBooks has removed HOA Dues’ connection to your QuickBooks Online company. HOA Dues can no longer read from that company or create invoices in it, so automatic dues invoicing for the association connected to it has stopped.

Invoices already in QuickBooks are untouched. Disconnecting does not void or delete anything — every invoice, customer, and payment stays in your QuickBooks company, and homeowners can still pay open invoices through QuickBooks as before.

Disconnecting QuickBooks does not cancel your HOA Dues subscription. To stop being charged, open the association’s Billing tab, choose Manage billing and cancel; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.

To turn invoicing back on

  1. Sign in at hoa.skepticdogsoftware.com/app/login.
  2. Open the association.
  3. Go to Settings → QuickBooks and choose Reconnect (or Connect to QuickBooks if it shows as not connected), then approve the connection in QuickBooks. Only the association’s account owner or an admin sees these buttons.

HOA Dues finds out within a day — at its daily connection check, or sooner on the association’s next billing run or when an administrator uses a QuickBooks lookup in the console. Until then the console may still show QuickBooks as connected; after that it shows Needs reconnect. Either way, reconnecting under Settings → QuickBooks restores it (Reconnect, or Connect to QuickBooks once it shows Needs reconnect); if you don’t plan to reconnect, choose Disconnect from QuickBooks there to remove the connection tokens HOA Dues stored. (If the association’s subscription has ended, HOA Dues makes no QuickBooks calls and won’t notice; its data is deleted 30 days after the subscription ended.)

If you don’t reconnect

30 days after HOA Dues finds out QuickBooks was disconnected, HOA Dues deletes all of the association’s data — its units, owners, billing history, settings, and the QuickBooks company ID it kept — or sooner, 30 days after the association’s subscription ended, if that came first. To stop it, restore whatever stopped: reconnect QuickBooks, and resubscribe — or, if Stripe marked the subscription unpaid, pay its open invoice under Billing → Manage billing. We try to email the account owner 7 days before; the deletion happens on its date either way. If the subscription is still running then, HOA Dues cancels it first and refunds the unused part of the paid period (or another way if that refund fails). Nothing in QuickBooks is deleted.

A homeowner’s prepay invoice whose deadline passes while QuickBooks is disconnected is voided after you reconnect, if it is still unpaid. If the association’s data is deleted first, that invoice stays open in QuickBooks for you to void or keep.
